On April 20, 2011, we boarded a plane in Buenos Aires headed for Mexico City. Exactly one year to the day we left on our adventure through Latin America. At the time, we really had no idea just how incredible and fun and humbling our journey would be.
After returning back to New York, we are still adjusting to life back in the States. It has been wonderful seeing our family and friends again that we missed so deeply while we were traveling. But, somehow, things feel a bit strange here. I kept thinking things would have changed so much while we were gone. But the funny thing is while some little things are different, as Erik said, most things are the same. Just as we’d left them. The funny thing is WE have changed. I find myself living at a much slower pace. Breathing more deeply. Feeling things more thoroughly. Listening more carefully. Noticing the little things. Appreciating everything a lot more. It does feel a bit strange to be back. We have seen, experienced and shared so much and will be forever changed by our journey.
We are still a bit behind on our blogposts, but just wanted to write and let you know we are back safe and sound. And engaged!
